Medical Technician

Candidate provides patient care/ support services to an adult population of patients.
Answers incoming calls for the Lab Service.
Functions as a resource person and troubleshooter for ward and clinic personnel.
Receives all specimens and requests for testing into the laboratory.
Verifies the accuracy and completeness of the requests.
Accepts or enters all requests into the hospital computer system.
Processes all specimens according to strict guidelines to assure specimen integrity.
Collects data as required for various quality assurance monitors or may participate in performance improvement tasks.
Draws blood from medical center inpatients and outpatients for requested laboratory tests.
Assures that proper tubes are used and the correct amount of blood is drawn.
Must be proficient in the area of phlebotomy, being able to draw all but the most difficult patients and follow laboratory procedures for drawing blood.
Stocks, inventories and requests supplies as needed for use in drawing blood, accessioning, and processing areas.
Responds to, reports, and assists in emergency situations.
May assist on occasion with orientation of new employees and medical technologist students in the phlebotomy area and central processing areas.
Performs finger stick glucose procedures.
Calibrates and performs preventive maintenance on glucose meters.
May perform establish quality control procedures to check the accuracy and validity of test results.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
