SW Systems Engineer III


Job Description:
This family is responsible for performing technical planning, software systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness for total software systems.
Total software system product may include:
concept design, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
(It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content.
Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee).
SCOPE :
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives.
Performs engineering activities which include one or more of the following:
Define software system requirements, develop technical solutions, perform software systems functional analysis, conduct trade studies and perform test and evaluation activities.
Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting objectives and schedules.
May provide guidance to others to achieve goals in accordance with established policies.
PROBLEM COMPLEXITY :
Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of client's data requires an evaluation of various factors.
Exercises independent judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Ensures project schedules and performance requirements are met.
IMPACT :
Contributions are usually limited to assignment related activities.
Decisions or failure to achieve results may cause severe adverse business/schedule impact.
LIAISON :
Regularly interacts with customer and/or functional per group managers.
May interact with management.
Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.
FREEDOM TO ACT :
May be responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT:
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Having knowledge and experience, able to handle seldom and unusual occurring job events.
Ability to complete complex assignments.
May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and provide guidance to nonexempt personnel.
Knowledge of assigned product(s), company functions, service policies and procedures and good communication skills.
Proficiency in computer applications, languages, technologies, advanced set-up and configurations, troubleshooting, and system design, and/or capabilities required for the position.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related technical field and 7
years related experience.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
this position with VA requires a bachelor's degree in a computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline and 8 years of experience.
If no bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline, the experience requirement is 16 years.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
